A shark long-line, baited, preparatory to setting. This line, entirely of chain , was formerly used in the Florida shark fishery. It was customary to set the line at full speed and handling was very tricky and dangerous.

A small portion of a record catch of dogfish taken by the ALBATROSS IV in 100 fathoms of water south of Nantucket. Note the dogfish sticking out of the meshes of the net. The weight of the total catch was in excess of 12,000 pounds.
