Although known as the Great Miami Hurricane, it also devastated parts of the Gulf Coast. It besieged Pensacola for 20 hours on September 20 with hurricane force winds. Apparently these photos were taken from a Navy aircraft following the hurricane passage and passed to then Lieutenant Schoppe who was commanding officer officer of a C&GS ship engaged in post storm surveys.
