camping on the outskirts of cities, in our mountains and deserts,
and on the shores of our continent.
Snow,
heat, dust, and mud were all companions of the Coast Surveyors. Throw
in a few pets, the wives and kids starting with the great field parties
of the 1930's, and a dose of humor and you'll get the feel of camping
with the Survey.
Don't
forget flipping flapjacks over an open fire and maybe a little dose
of moonshine to make one forget the rigors of a life in the field....
