Welcome
to our largest estuary, the drowned valley of the
Susquehanna River. The Chesapeake Bay is a grand highway - a highway
for migratory fish and fowl, a highway for transportation and commerce,
and a highway of our Nation's history. It is also home to indigenous
marine species, watermen, farmers, military, and folks who love the
quiet beauty of the Bay. But, the Chesapeake is in danger from pollution,
human development, depletion of traditional fisheries stocks, and
rising sea level.
Enjoy
the beauty of the Bay as you thumb through this album, but be thinking
about how you can be helping save the Bay....
