A scene in Southern Illinois on the National Road, also known as
"The Road That Built the Nation." Thomas Jefferson signed the legislation
authorizing construction of the original road in 1806 stretching from
Cumberland, Maryland to Vandalia, Illinois, later extended to St. Louis.
