Topographic survey of the site of the new Naval Observatory by Charles Junken of
the Coast and Geodetic Survey. This was surveyed at the request of Rear Admira
l John Rodgers, USN. An example of Navy-Coast Survey cooperation during this
era. The C&GS also surveyed the circle surrounding the observatory at this time.
