The three-celled counting chamber was designed to fulfill a specific need in the
study of variations in the distribution of very small zooplankters. This need
was to be able to describe the mechanisms underlying the distribution and
movements of sardines, it was necessary to precisely determine the distribution
of their food which consist primarily of small zooplankters.
