Injecting metal tag into a menhaden. The tag will be recovered later, if the
fish is recaptured and reduced to meal and oil. This is part of an effort to
maintain the yield of menhaden and many other species. Understanding of
variations in abundance of fishery resources and of the effects of manmade and
natural phenomena is not complete.
