The small male terrapin rates considerable respect as father of a family of 4 to 6 females which produce over 100 fertilized eggs each per year. If the females are separated from the male they will continue producing fertilized eggs for 3 years. The male eats considerable seafood for his size and has wives over 50 years old that produce as many eggs as the young ones.
