The Mendocino Escarpment as compiled by Harold Murray of the Coast and
Geodetic Survey and reproduced in the Bulletin of the Association of
Field Engineers in 1938. This is the first hint at the nature of what later
were termed fracture zones by H.W. Menard in the 1950's.
