Augustus Rodgers, brother of Navy hero John Rodgers. Augustus was a pioneer on
survey of the West Coast and remained there for 50 years. He replaced George
Davidson as head of the western operations of the Survey in 1895. He produced a
number of beautiful topographic sheets of the San Francisco Bay area.
