Charles Anton Schott, Chief Geodesist, Mathematician, and Magnetician of
the Coast and Geodetic Survey for much of the latter half of the Nineteenth
Century. He was a charter member of the National Academy of Sciences. Schott
was also considered to be the first statistical climatologist by Cleveland Abbe.
