Greetings from the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC). Staff with one of
the largest Shortraker Rockfish ever seen. Caught in the Bering Sea in the 2007
winter and donated to AFSC for research the fish weighed 62 pounds, was 112 cm
in length, and study of otoliths (ear bones) the fish was determined to be 90 to
115 years old, having lived through half of NOAA with never having been caught.
