Scientists monitor the gravel composition and levels of dissolved oxygen in the
creek. The process requires the insertion of plastic pipes into the streambed
at a depth where fish eggs are found. The scientists use an oxygen probe to
measure the levels of dissolved oxygen and measure the cleanliness of the gravel
to determine suitability of the riverbed as spawning habitat.
