The names of the ships POLA and BLAKE inscribed on the facade of the
Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. The BLAKE was the Coast and Geodetic
Survey Ship BLAKE which was memorialized because of its work in the Gulf Stream,
the Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean. It also was one of the most innovative of
Nineteenth Century research vessels.
