The Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii is located at the 11,200 feet level of
Mauna Loa. volcano. The mountain in the background is Mauna Kea, home for many
major astronomical observatories. The Keeling Building, the original building at
the observatory, can be seen at the end of the boardwalk.
