Enter the keyword or phrase and press the "GO" button. The NOAA Photo Library uses USA.gov to conduct the search.
Please Note: Because of changes to the search engine used by the NOAA Photo Library, it presently returns textual descriptions of individual images. If you wish to see thumbnails of search returned instead, follow this procedure:
1. Access USA.gov image search at http://search.usa.gov/search/images?locale=en&m=false&query=
2. Enter the string "site:photolib.noaa.gov" in the search box. What will return is all NOAA Photo Library photos presently indexed by USA.gov.
3. Enter a space following the above string, followed by your search term such as "reef fish". The search will appear thus - site:photolib.noaa.gov reef fish. Then click on SEARCH and you will access 560 images of reef fish. Click on the desired thumbnail to find metadata and have access to high resolution imagery.
4. Change search term as desired to such terms as coral, cloud, hurricane, tornado, Katrina, etc.
5. The above procedure works equally well with other image search engines such as Google, Bing, and Ask.
