Coast Survey chart of The Harbor of New London. This chart is the first to show handcolored red buoys indicating red-right return. It is fitting that this chart was the first as the United States Coast Guard Academy is located at New London.

Coast Survey chart of The Mouth of the Connecticut River. This chart has been hand contoured but in attempting to determine contour interval, there appear to be many inconsistencies in the contours as drawn.

A map of New York City and Environs by Adolph Lindenkohl and P. Witzel, engraved by Henry Lindenkohl. This map shows the blurry line between commercial and government work in the mid-Nineteenth Century. The Lindenkohl's were Coast Survey cartographers but they produced this commercial product from Coast Survey data.
