NOAA Photo Library Image - expl8284

Methane bubbles seen rising from a "crater" on a large mound at a cold seep site. White bacterial mat, a red crab (Chaceon quinquedens), a white squat lobster, and an eelpout are seen in the image. The eelpout can just be made out on the far side of the crater. Carbonate rock fragments are also seen on the crater.
